Kendrick Perkins Admits He Was Terrified Of LeBron James That He Wished LeBron Tore An ACL In Game 7 Of The 2008 East’s Semifinals
Kendrick Perkins was one of the top defensive big men in the NBA during his heyday. He played for four teams throughout his NBA career, but he’s mostly known for his stint with the Boston Celtics where he shined as a defensive anchor for eight seasons.
Perkins recalled his playing days with the Celtics when making his appearance on “Old Man and the Tree”. One recollection he touched on was when they faced former Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James in the 2008 Eastern Conference Semifinals.
LeBron was a dominant force ever since, so Perkins knew what exactly they were up against. Speaking to J.J Redick, the former Celtics center admitted that he was terrified of LeBron to an extent that he wished LeBron tore an ACL heading into Game 7.
“We played the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2008 and it was a Game 7 right. We had just lost Game 6. I ain’t gonna lie man, I was scared as hell going into that Game 7 against LeBron James. This was the only time that I actually prayed that something happened to him at practice. I’m being real, I was like let us get breaking news that LeBron has tore his ACL or something. I’m not even lying.”
