Kentavious Caldwell-Pope Claims Lakers Would’ve Lost Conference Finals Against The Nuggets In 2020 If Not For Anthony Davis’ Buzzer Beater
Before making their way to the 2020 NBA Finals against the Miami Heat, the Los Angeles Lakers found themselves squaring up against Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray’s Denver Nuggets that had just finished a 3-1 comeback against the Los Angeles Clippers.
Thanks in large part to Anthony Davis, the Lakers took control and squashed the Nuggets team in just five games as Davis averaged 31.2 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game on 54.3% shooting from the field while leaving a memorable moment, hitting an epic game-winning three at the buzzer in Game 2 of the series.
While the Lakers only dropped one game against the Jokic-led Nuggets team, former Lakers swingman and now-Nuggets player Kentavious Caldwell-Pope now claimed that the Lakers would’ve lost that series if not for Anthony Davis’ buzzer beater.
Per Denver Post:
“I always tell people this story,” Caldwell-Pope said here at the summer league.“If AD didn’t hit that three, I figure we would’ve lost that series. That’s what I think about this Denver team.”
