Brian Windhorst Says Golden State Warriors Are Not Shutting Down A Potential Kevin Durant Return

The Golden State Warriors just proved that they don’t need Kevin Durant to win another NBA title after beating the Boston Celtics in the 2022 NBA Finals, but there still has been plenty of talk about whether the Warriors would still have interest in bringing back their two-time Finals MVP.

Durant averaged 28.7 points, 7.3 rebounds and 6.1 assists per game on 52.5% shooting from the field in his two healthy years with Brooklyn.

He may be turning 34 this September, but best believe that Durant is still a significant threat and is one player capable of turning the Warriors into overwhelming championship favorites, as evidenced by his three-year tenure with the team from 2017 to 2019 NBA season. 

The Warriors have remained very distant in the Durant sweepstakes at the present time, but NBA insider Brian Windhorst said that Stephen Curry and Warriors majority owner Joe Lacob are still not shutting down a potential reunion with the former Warriors superstar.

“Yeah, I think this says a lot about the Warriors organization that they would be coming off a championship and Steph Curry coming off a crowning moment in his career, and he wouldn’t slam the door shut on this. Steph Curry’s got the kind of clout where he can shut this down, but he’s not. Joe Lacob is not,” ESPN’s Brian Windhorst said.
