Goran Dragic Drops Major Revelation About The Brooklyn Nets: “I Played With Some Stars… Focus Was Not The Team”
In late February of this year, the struggling Brooklyn Nets emerged active on the buyout market and eventually got their hands on veteran point guard Goran Dragic, who was traded from the Toronto Raptors to the San Antonio Spurs at the trade deadline before being subsequently bought out.
Dragic was seen as a dependable veteran player and a fantastic backcourt addition to the team. But his time with the Nets was extremely short, playing in just 20 games throughout the regular season and the NBA playoffs before leaving them to sign with the Chicago Bulls in this summer.
The former Nets guard now caught up with a Slovenian news outlet to talk about a slew of basketball-related topics including his short tenure with the Nets last season. Reflecting on his time with the Nets, Dragic admitted that it was quite difficult because the team focused more on individual success.
Per Sports Illustrated:
“Last year I decided the way I did. I played with some stars like Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, and I have to admit that it was quite difficult because the focus was not the team, but more the individual performances of the individuals,” he said, as translated by Google.
“… Last season, I didn’t play for four months, then I came to Brooklyn and immediately played 30 minutes, which was difficult. The season was really not successful, but the most important thing is that it is behind us, it is in the past and now we can only look forward.”
