Udonis Haslem Shreds Narrative That He’s Wasting A Roster Spot: “There’s A Reason Why I’m F*cking Here”
Udonis Haslem is among the most popular veteran players in the NBA. He has been in the league for 19 seasons now and is likely to return for his 20th season with the Miami Heat.
Haslem is 42 years old and is already way past his playing days. As a matter of fact, he has only appeared in only 18 games and has logged in just 7.2 minutes of playing time over the past three NBA seasons.
Despite being a shell of his old self, the Heat have been more than willing to give Haslem a contract as they understand his importance to the team by being a respected veteran, emotional leader and a good locker room player.
Contrary to the Heat organization, a number of fans are unable find reason why Haslem deserves a roster spot, consequently criticizing the veteran Heat player for clogging up a roster spot instead of calling it quits to give an opportunity to a younger player.
Haslem has caught wind of these whispers, so he has wasted no time taking a dig at his critics in his appearance on “The Long Shot” podcast.
“Another misconception is that I take up a roster spot,” he said. “People don’t know that we got the most undrafted people in the NBA on our team. There’s literally something going on here, people, which you dumb motherf—— can’t understand. You’re so focused on my age and why I’m here. There’s a reason why I’m f—— here.”
