Draymond Green Reveals He Asked DeMar DeRozan To Join The Golden State Warriors In 2021 NBA Free Agency
In the summer of 2021, DeMar DeRozan declined his player option with the San Antonio Spurs to enter the free agency market as an unrestricted free agent. It wasn’t a smooth-sailing free agency for DeRozan, but he later found his home with the Chicago Bulls.
But before DeRozan made his way to Chicago, one player who took his chances on DeRozan was Golden State Warriors defensive big man Draymond Green, who was fresh off of losing to the Memphis Grizzlies in the 2021 NBA play-in tournament.
In a recent episode of The Draymond Green Show, the 32-year old Warriors center revealed how he asked DeRozan to join the Warriors in hopes of winning an NBA championship but DeRozan apparently had no interest.
“What about this? What about that?” Green said. “So then the conversation started to like, ‘Yo, come to the Warriors.’ And you were like, ‘F–k, no, I’m not coming. I’m not coming to play with y’all.’ But, you come to the Warriors? We can win a championship if you come to the Warriors.”
