Jalen Brunson Reveals He’ll Still Be Rooting For The Dallas Mavericks

At the beginning of this year’s free agency, Jalen Brunson signed a four-year, $104 million deal with the New York Knicks. The contract includes a player option in the final year.

Brunson, who had a breakout season with the Dallas Mavericks, helped the team to reach the Western Conference Finals, where they fell short to the eventual Champions, Golden State Warriors.

Brunson averaged a career-high 16.3 points, 3.9 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game in the regular season, and an impressive 21.6 points per game in the playoffs.

The point guard bet on himself declined the Mavericks’ four-year, $55.5 million contract extension offer after the trade deadline in February, and has now been rewarded with almost $50 million more in total salary.

Still, after four years in Dallas it was a tough goodbye for Brunson, who now revealed that he will still be rooting for his former team and their success.

Jalen Brunson: “There’s no bad blood at all for me. No bad blood. I’m gonna root for them, I’m gonna be happy for them, for their success”

Derek Harper: No bad bllood. But did you think that there was bad blood coming out of the Mavericks organization?

Jalen Brunson:“I don’t think so. I think they all knew it’s business first. I love my time there and I love being part of it. Every time I step on the court, I was playing for those people–my coaches, teammates, everyone in the organization–and gave it my all. I wanted to be there for the long haul. I thought I was gonna be with Dallas my entire career.”
