Colin Cowherd Believes Draymond Green Deserves A Max Contract Extension: “Complete Difference Maker”
As an important chess piece that brings elite defense, energy, and leadership, Draymond Green is well aware of the value that he brings to the team. So recently, the 32-year old has made it known that he’s looking for a four-year max contract extension from the Golden State Warriors.
Draymond will be eligible for a new contract on August 3rd, and has a player option worth $27.5 million for the 2023-24 season in his current deal where he can opt out and become an unrestricted free agent. He is also said to be willing to explore outside options just to get the kind of contract he wants.
Following Draymond’s sentiment, the question now is whether the Warriors should give him the max deal. While fans and basketball pundits alike are divided on this topic, NBA analyst Colin Cowherd believes that the four-time Warriors All-Star definitely deserves to get paid.
“He is a complete difference maker on the defensive side and a catalyst offensively. But here is something to remember, when we entered the NBA Finals, I was one of many broadcasters who said I thought the Celtics defense could be the best in the last decade. By the end of that series, the belief was by most, including me, the Warriors were better defensively. That was really two people, Andrew Wiggins and Draymond Green…
…Steph loves Draymond, catalyst offensively, best playoff net rating, best defense in the league which he spearheads, I don’t know, feels like he’s worth a lot of money to me and wildly popular among fans.”
