Scottie Pippen Says DeMar DeRozan And The Chicago Bulls Are Not Built For The NBA Playoffs
The Chicago Bulls made some major buzz last season after the acquisitions of Lonzo Ball, Alex Caruso, and veteran star DeMar DeRozan. With a brand new look, the Bulls surged up the standings and even managed to become the No.1 seed in the Eastern Conference before eventually hitting a rough patch.
The Bulls finished last year’s campaign sitting at sixth place with a 46-36 NBA record. They went up against the Milwaukee Bucks in the first-round of the NBA playoffs. But with an injured squad, the Bulls didn’t last long enough and were eliminated in five games.
Ahead of the coming NBA season, Bulls legend Scottie Pippen now talked to NBC Sports Chicago and shared thoughts on the DeRozan-led Bulls. Though Pippen recognized their improvement, the six-time NBA champion said that the Bulls are not a team that’s built for the NBA playoffs.
Per NBC Sports:
“Throughout the regular season they definitely looked a lot better. I think (DeMar) DeRozan definitely brought them some firepower that they needed from an offensive standpoint.”
“I think (in the) postseason they sort of fell back into the slot that they’ve been in for the last 10 or 15 years. They’re just not a team that’s built for the postseason,” Pippen said. “They had some injuries this year, but the other teams out there are continuing to improve.
“Milwaukee is still gonna be strong, Miami (Heat). So even (if) the improvements that they (the Bulls) are making is drastic improvement, other teams are making moves too. They’re (other teams) really not giving them (the Bulls) a chance to close the gap.”
