Zion Williamson Admits Hate And Pain From Basketball Fans Started To Wear Him Down
Zion Williamson has been in the NBA for three seasons now. But to due to injury problems, the 22-year old New Orleans Pelicans big man has only played a combined 85 games including missing all games of last season.
Williamson is a force to reckon with when healthy. The last time he played, he averaged 27.0 points, 7.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game on 61.1% shooting from the field, and ended up making the All-Star team.
As Williamson prepares to make a comeback for the 2022-23 NBA season, the young Pelicans star talked about his road to recovery in an interview with Tres Dean of GQ. Williamson now said that he experienced hate and pain from fans because of his absence, and it started to wear him down.
“It’s been a lot. I can sit here and explain it, but nobody will really be able to feel it the way I did. My foot was broken and I couldn’t magically heal it. It hurt, because I love the game of basketball. But because of it I was experiencing hate and pain from people I don’t know every day, and it started to wear on me.”
