Jalen Rose Believes The Philadelphia 76ers Made A Mistake In Developing Ben Simmons As A Point Guard

Ben Simmons has always been viewed as a point guard from the get-go due to his remarkable playmaking and court vision. He was able to excel in that role with the Philadelphia 76ers as he made the All-Star team three-times and averaged 7.7 assists during his whole tenure with the team.

Though Simmons proved to be a solid facilitator for the 76ers, several fans and observers still believe that Simmons was kind of misfit for the position of a point guard, especially after getting exposed in the 2021 Eastern Conference Semifinals against the Atlanta Hawks for his ability to space the floor.

Like many others, former NBA player and now-media personality Jalen Rose also share the sentiment about Simmons’ position. Appearing on NBA Today, Rose now claimed that the 76ers made a mistake in developing Simmons as a point guard.

“Philadelphia made a mistake in developing Ben Simmons as a point guard and here’s why: When you’re not attempting shots outside of the paint, it’s hard to have you at the top of the floor.”
