Shaquille O’Neal Doubles Down On His Flat Earth Beliefs

I don’t know why Shaquille O’Neal states something like that publicly. The only possible explanation is, that he wants to be nominated as one of the fools on his own show ‘Shaqtin’ A Fool’.

A couple of years ago, we had the whole Kyrie Irving believes the earth is flat story – while we didn’t know if he really was serious, or if it was a joke, as broadcasted later, it seems like Shaq definitely is for real. Back then, O’Neal said on his podcast:

“It’s true. The earth is flat. The earth is flat. Yes, it is. Listen, there are three ways to manipulate the mind – what you read, what you see and what you hear. In school, first thing they teach us is, ‘Oh Columbus discovered America’, but when he got there, there were some fair-skinned people with the long hair smoking on the peace pipes. So, what does that tell you? Columbus didn’t discover America. So, listen, I drive from coast to coast, and this shit is flat to me. I’m just saying. I drive from Florida to California all the time, and it’s flat to me. I do not go up and down at a 360 degree angle, and all that stuff about gravity, have you looked outside Atlanta lately and seen all these buildings? You mean to tell me that China is under us? It’s not. The world is flat.”

During an appearance on ‘The Kyle & Jackie O Show O’Neal now doubled down on his former comments about the earth being flat:

“It’s a theory. It’s just a theory, they teach us a lot of things. It’s just a theory…

You know they say the world is spinning? I’ve lived on a lake for 30 years and I’ve never seen the lake move to the left or right.  I flew 20 hours today, not once did I go this way,” O’Neal said, noting he “didn’t tip over” or “go upside down.”

This is shockingly stupid and his arguments do not make any sense whatsoever. He’s rejecting accepted and proven scientific principles. It may be an on-going joke from players to the media, but I ain’t having it.

At least Kyrie only spent one year at college. Shaq in the meantime spent three years at LSU, proving once again that college athletes don’t really have to learn for, and pass exams.

Maybe TNT should rename the show to ‘Shaq is a fool’.
