The Cleveland Cavaliers Could Welcome A Reunion With LeBron James, But Under The Right Terms

The Cleveland Cavaliers made one of the biggest moves of this year’s free agency, sending off Collin Sexton, Lauri Markannen, Ochai Agbaji and a couple of draft picks for three-time All-Star Donovan Mitchell.

This trade has now led to a number of questions, one of which is whether the Cavaliers would still be interested in a reunion with former Cavaliers superstar LeBron James.

LeBron has a found a home with the Los Angeles Lakers and has recently agreed to a two-year contract extension with the team. However, the 37-year old superstar has also made it clear during last season’s All-Star break that he isn’t closing the door for a potential return to the Cavaliers.

The possibility of a reunion isn’t likely to come to fruition in the short term, considering the recent moves of the two parties. But to answer the pressing question, Cavaliers beat writer Chris Fedor said that the Cavaliers would still be open to a reunion with LeBron, but not in the same manner as back then.

Per HoopsHype

I think they’d be open to it on their own terms, under the right terms. Terms that are very different from the ones he came back to in 2014. When you acquire LeBron, there are a lot of things that go with that. He wants power.

He wants to help make decisions over the roster and people that are hired within the organization. He wants to be at the center of everything and have a team built around his strengths and things along those lines. The Cavaliers would not sign up for that kind of situation.

They feel good about what they have here, especially with the addition of Donovan Mitchell. Back in 2014, they needed a savior and needed LeBron to come back and take them to a different level.
