Dwight Howard Receives Significant Interest From WWE Executive Triple H: “All He’s Got To Do Is Call Me”

NBA training camp is just right around the corner, but eight-time All-Star Dwight Howard is still available in the free agent market.

Howard played for the Los Angeles Lakers last season where he averaged 6.2 points, 5.9 rebounds and 0.6 blocks per game on 61.2% shooting from the field. He’s already 36 years old and his best days are clearly behind him which ultimately bring a very limited market for him.

That being said, the 36-year old defensive center has a backup plan in case he remains unsigned over the course of the next NBA season. In an interview right around July of this year, Howard said that he would like to join the WWE after making a surprise appearance in a WWE tryout.

“I think it is something that’s in my future,” he said. “I love the WWE. I love wrestling. … Hopefully, one day in the future I’ll actually be in the ring wrestling and holding up the belt. That would be amazing.”

Howard may be a perfect fit for the WWE considering his entertaining personality and athletic gifts. Following speaking out his WWE aspirations, WWE executive Paul Levesque, better known as Triple H, now weighed in on the possibility of acquiring the NBA eight-time All-Star.

In an interview with Sporting News, Triple H expresses that he’s leaving the door open for Howard in case the NBA big man wants put in the work and the grind to get to the WWE.

“The ball’s in his court,” Levesque said. “It’s a funny thing, Dwight, in the conversations we had was like, ‘You know, I really want to do this. I’m serious, I really want to do this.’ We hear that a lot, and there’s a difference between saying, ‘I want to do this,’ and putting in the grind and doing the work to get there.

“[He] came by our tryouts in Nashville, was incredibly entertaining. Jumping in promos by himself and then with others, incredibly entertaining. Really driven to want to do this, it’s just a matter for him, he’s got a lot of things going on, right? So when he says,’ Hey I want to give this a shot,’ he’s got my phone number. All he’s gotta do is call me, and we’ll see what can happen. And if he’s willing to put in the grind and the drive that guys like Logan Paul, and Bad Bunny and Tyson Fury are willing to put in, then let’s go.”
