NBA Twitter Reacts To Ime Udoka’s One-Year Suspension
The Boston Celtics have officially suspended head coach Ime Udoka for the entire 2022-2023 NBA season.
The team cited violations of team policies in its announcement. Udoka reportedly had an intimate relationship with a female member of the franchise’s staff, the team however did not publicly state the reason for Udoka’s suspension. In reaction to the news, Udoka released a statement through Malika Andrews:
“I want to apologize to our players, fans, the entire Celtics organization, and my family for letting them down. I am sorry for putting the team in this difficult situation, and I accept the team’s decision. Out of respect for everyone involved, I will have no further comment.”
Here’s how NBA Twitter reacted to the news of Udoka’s season-long suspension.
This suspension of @celtics coach Ime Udoka is utter BULLSHIT. If you thought I said enough this morning on @FirstTake, you haven’t seen a damn thing yet. 10am. EST. Friday morning on ESPN. See y’all then#TotalBS

If what Ime did was bad enough to warrant his employer kicking him out for a year, how does the org feel good about just letting him reassume a position power/prominence in the building next season? https://t.co/e2FobAgj2z

If you gonna suspend him for the entire year might as well fire him. https://t.co/QdgViWsMNe

This very much smells like Ime Udoka has coached his last game for Boston. https://t.co/ymNl0Jo8z4

This *has* to be about more than an affair with a staff member. https://t.co/TZ2njHLVzP

This is more than a season-long suspension. It is that, plus a potential firing or a potential extended suspension. Also “violations” plural. https://t.co/xftRmWMGcB
