Matt Barnes Opens Up On Ime Udoka Situation: “100 Times Uglier Than Any Of Us Thought”
Boston Celtics head coach Ime Udoka has been in the forefront of news these days following the reports of an improper intimate relationship with a female member on the team’s staff. Recent details also stated that the 45-year old Celtics coach allegedly made unwanted comments towards a female staffer which prompted an internal investigation.
Supposed to be gearing up for his second season with the Celtics, Udoka was then given a season-long suspension over a violation of team policies. After suspension announcement, Udoka issued an apology to players, fans and everybody involved, and also said that he accepted the Celtics’ decision.
Insiders and reporters have been pretty vague about Udoka’s situation, and his season-long suspension has only raised more questions about what really happened behind the scene. A rampant speculation has been going on, and specific details are yet to come to light.
Former NBA journeyman and now-media personality Matt Barnes now weighed in on the topic and said that he knows the specific details of the Udoka story. Though Barnes didn’t specifically reveal it, the player-turned-analyst said that it’s ‘100 times uglier than any of us thought’.
“Since I’m a part of the media now and I try not to be like everyone else — I try to report and talk with facts and honesty and I clearly have to say, without knowing all the facts, I spoke in Ime Udoka’s defense,” Barnes said in a video posted on his Instagram account.
“And, after finding out all the facts, after I spoke, I erased what I posted because this situation in Boston is deep. It’s messy. It’s 100 times uglier than any of us thought. And, that’s why I erased what I said.”
