Kemba Walker Nearing Deal With Dallas Mavericks
After being traded to the Detroit Pistons, Kemba Walker and the Pistons agreed on a contract buyout, leaving the four-time All-Star as an unrestricted free agent.
For a long time, it was looking like Walker wasn’t able to find a team, as there weren’t any reported teams attached to him, even a quarter into the season.
It felt like Kemba was the newest former star player to be out of the NBA early, after his disappointing tenure with the New York Knicks, where he averaged career lows of 11.6 points, 3.5 assists and 3.0 rebounds.
But now, Walker, who hasn’t played a game since February 16, is about to make his return to NBA hardwood. According to Marc Stein, the Dallas Mavericks plan to sign the veteran guard. Stein says the move is pending a physical and could become official as soon as this week.
The Mavericks are nearing a deal to sign former All-Star guard Kemba Walker, league sources tell me.
