Shaquille O’Neal On Being Critical Of Today’s NBA Players: “Just ‘Cause We Criticize You Don’t Mean We’re Not Together With You”

Since retiring from basketball, Shaquille O’Neal has made his mark as an NBA analyst and host on ESPN’s “Inside the NBA”. O’Neal is such a humorous TV personality, but also presents a harsh and ruthless nature.

O’Neal is a known vocal critic of today’s NBA. Over the years, O’Neal has had some harsh words for a number of NBA players including JaVale McGee, Dwight Howard, Donovan Mitchell, Rudy Gobert and Ben Simmons, among others.

Some people think his criticisms are valid, while others think many of it are uncalled for. Recently joining ESPN’s “NBA Today”, O’Neal now delivered a message to today’s generation of NBA players and talked about being critical of many of them.

“I need to explain this to the youngsters. Just ‘cause we criticize you don’t mean we not together with you. If you listen to the information, I’m giving you the answers to the test. Like when I say ‘he’s not that good he should be averaging 28 and 10’ go out and average 28 and 10.”

“We’re going to continue to do our job. Listen, I criticize but I’m also giving these youngsters valuable information. You know who did that for me? Kareem Abdul-Jabbar did that for me.”
