Rudy Gobert Thinks No National Team Can Beat Team France If He Were To Play With Victor Wembanyama And Joel Embiid

Team USA has largely topped the international competition, but French big man Rudy Gobert believes that the France men’s national basketball team can make a lot of noise if he were to play with Victor Wembanyama and Joel Embiid.

Wembanyama has impressed as the projected No.1 overall pick of the 2023 NBA draft. He missed the previous EuroBasket 2022 due to an injury but was able to represent France at the latest FIBA World Cup qualifiers where he helped the team clinch a spot in the 2023 World Cup.

Joel Embiid, on the other hand, has recently received French nationality and has earned an option to play for France in the international competition. The Sixers big man is yet to make a decision, but France general manager Boris Diaw remains confident that Embiid will join them in the near future.

Gobert, Wembanyama and Embiid could form arguably the best big man rotation in the international competition. If that happens, Gobert believes that no team will be able to stop their trio.

Per The Athletic:

“They can’t,” said Gobert to The Athletic’s Joe Vardon regarding whether or not that trio could be stopped. “But the international game is not about getting the best players on paper.

“If Joel’s heart is with us and he wants to do it for the right reasons, it would be an amazing opportunity for our team.”
