The Miami Heat Reportedly Have Some Frustration With Bam Adebayo: “Not The Consistent Star They Think They Should Be”
Bam Adebayo is putting up 21.5 points, 9.9 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game on 53.9% shooting from the field through 34 games. Only five other NBA players are matching up those numbers and clearing at least 20 points and 9 rebounds a game so far this season.
Defensively, Adebayo is evidently one of the best players in the NBA with his ability to protect the rim and switch on the perimeter. Thanks in large part to his crucial role on defense, the Miami Heat are currently holding the 7th best defense in the entire league.
Adebayo’s offense isn’t his best attribute, but he has worked around it and it has manifested to a career-high in points per game and field goal attempts this season. He is definitely more beneficial to his team when he shows a lot of offensive aggression and willingness to take over games.
All that being said, that just doesn’t happen on a nightly basis for the 25-year old big man. Right now, there still seems to be a question mark about Adebayo’s consistency, and that has caused some frustration within the Heat organization.
Per Heavy.com:
“But you know, at the same time, there is some frustration within the team that he [Adebayo] is not the consistent star they think he should be. When he is aggressive and playing like he thinks he’s the best guy on the floor, forget it, he is a Top 10 or 15 player. You just don’t get that version of him game in and game out.”
