Kendrick Perkins Believes Lakers Front Office Is Punishing LeBron James For The Russell Westbrook Trade
LeBron James is carrying the Los Angeles Lakers the same way he used to drag some of his former teams. The difference is that the four-time NBA champion is already 38-years old and has already logged a massive amount of wear and tear on his body.
LeBron is averaging 29.8 points, 8.4 rebounds and 7.0 assists per game on 50.9% shooting from the field this season, but it hasn’t led to much success as the team sits 13th in the Western Conference with a 20-25 record.
Now this goes without saying that the Lakers are in desperately need of wins, and of course heavy hitters on the roster that can get that job done. But so far this season, the Lakers haven’t put much urgency in polishing their roster and helping their 38-year old superstar.
According to former NBA big man and current NBA analyst Kendrick Perkins, the Lakers front office is doing this on purpose to punish LeBron for spearheading the trade to acquire Russell Westbrook given that the front office was not convinced of bringing Westbrook to the team from the start.
“It almost feels like, in my opinion, that Rob Pelinka and Jeanie Buss are punishing LeBron James for the Russell Westbrook trade. Meaning, you play a huge part in getting Russell Westbrook here, and we know we have these two draft picks, and we’re not gonna trade them because you wanted him [Westbrook].”
