Philadelphia 76ers A Realistic Destination For Damian Lillard, Says Paul Pierce
Damian Lillard doesn’t appear to be going anywhere soon, with the Portland Trailblazers reaffirming their commitment on building a better supporting cast around the 32-year old point guard ahead of this year’s trade deadline.
That being said, a potential breakup between the two parties shouldn’t be ruled out sometime in the future, especially if the team doesn’t achieve anything special in the postseason while being stuck with an aging superstar going forward.
Boston Celtics icon Paul Pierce now toyed with the idea of Lillard going to a different team for a better chance to compete for a title. Talking to Kevin Garnett, Pierce mentioned the Philadelphia 76ers as a realistic destination for the coveted Blazers star.
“What’s realistic? I think Philly is realistic. Throw in some draft picks if they got some, you throw in a young talent like Maxey and Tobias Harris, get the salaries,” Pierce said. “If you can find a way to put Harden and Damian Lillard together, you’re talking about a Big 3 [with Joel Embiid].”
