While intended to be the crown jewels of All-Star Saturday, the NBA Slam Dunk Contest has been sitting in the backseat more and more in recent years.
Just too many uninteresting contests with fewer and fewer stars of the league. This years participants don’t scream superstars at first glance, too, and people have made plenty of jokes when the lineup was revealed.
While superstars like Jayson Tatum, Damian Lillard and Tyrese Haliburton will take part in the three point contest, Jericho Sims, Trey Murphy III, KJ Martin and Mac McClung will be dunking for perfect 50 scores in Salt Lake City’s Vivint Arena.
But even though fans have criticized the lineup, there is room for hope. Just yesterday, during an interview with Shams Charania, Mac Mclung revealed that he’s been working on dunks that have never been done before in a dunk contest.
“There’s at least two dunks that I know have never been done in any contest.”

Now, during the Rising Stars Media Day, I asked Trey Murphy if he’s got something special in store for us, too?
Well, he didn’t need too many words to make a statement that can only be interpreted as ‘f**k yes!’
Confidence is key. @treymurphy said @McclungMac isn’t the only one with dunks in store that haven’t been done before. 🔥🔥🔥
