Ja Morant has been making rounds on social media for several days now after an Instagram Live video showed the Memphis Grizzlies point guard flashing a gun at a nightclub in Glendale, Colorado. The 23-year old star is cleared of criminal charges, and after his eight game suspension has ended, he is officially allowed to come back to his team and play, as soon as Monday.
The Grizzlies however already revealed that Morant will not be giving his comeback on Monday, but at a later date, that is yet to be revealed.
Morant himself has remained relatively quiet about the incident, something that changed yesterday, when Morant sat down with Jalen Rose, where he publicly apologized for his mistake and accepted responsibility for his actions.
“It’s not who I am. I don’t condone any type of violence, but I take full responsibility for my actions…
I made a bad mistake. But in the future, I’m going to show everybody who Ja really is, what I’m about, and change this narrative.”

Fellow NBA All-Star Paul George in the meantime has send positive encouragement to Ja Morant. During an episode of his ‘Podcast P’ podcast, George also shared some advice about the situation, urging Morant to cut ties with some people.
“One thing I don’t want him to be is not himself. We got to respect who he is as a person, so I don’t want him to now shape to be someone that he’s not just because the microscope is on him…
…He’s gonna have to cut ties with some people. I think as a young kid that’s maturing, growing up, and becoming a man, you’ll realize some people are good for you and some people aren’t. And that’s a part of life. No love lost. It’s part of maturation as a man like you wanna grow. The plan is to always grow, and so I think he’s going through that phase and understanding that like, ‘I can’t have the influence that I have around because I’m someone that’s putting the influence on the next generation.”
But it’s love here kid. We stand behind you, on your future.”
