The Golden State Warriors may have gotten the best of the Philadelphia 76ers Friday night, but Sixers center Joel Embiid still came out firing as finished with 46 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists on 56.5% shooting from the field.
After the game, Embiid got real with Warriors veteran Draymond Green and told him why he was extra motivated to put up such a dominant performance. Apparently, the 29-year old Sixers big man wasn’t fond of Draymond’s previous comments about Denver Nuggets superstar Nikola Jokic.
Embiid and Jokic are competing for the MVP award this season and are getting compared to each other on a daily basis. According to Embiid, he heard the four-time NBA champion call Jokic the hardest player to guard in the NBA.
“You know why I played like that tonight? You said Joker was the hardest person to guard in the league. I took that personal.’”
