While the Dallas Mavericks can get a lot of buckets with a duo of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving running the show, the team hasn’t done a good job in winning a lot of games. It’s been an underwhelming stretch for the Mavericks, tallying a 7-10 record with Irving.
Irving seems to be an easy target when it comes to this situation. Over the years, the stigma around the 31-year old offensive guard is that he’s a team killer and a cancer in the locker room. Though Irving is nothing short of talent, many people feels like he’s not worth the baggage that he brings with him.
Former NBA journeyman and current media member Matt Barnes now offered his thoughts on the state of struggling Mavericks team and suggested that it may not be a coincidence that the team is struggling with Irving on the roster.
“It just seems like everywhere Kyrie goes, there is an issue,” Barnes said. “Now, that could be a coincidence, or it could be that Kyrie is the issue. Again, as great a talent he is, a top-five talent no doubt, but it just seems like every time he makes a pit stop, s**t gets f****d up.”
