As you all know, the All-NBA First Team is an annual honor given to the top five players in the NBA during a given season. The selection process is conducted by a panel of sportswriters and broadcasters who cover the NBA. The five players who receive the most votes are named to the All-NBA First Team.
The All-NBA First Team was first introduced in the 1946-47 NBA season. At that time, the All-NBA Team was comprised of two teams, with five players on each team. Since then, the All-NBA First Team has been an annual honor given to the top players in the NBA. Over the years, the selection process has evolved, with the panel of voters expanding to include international media members in 2013.
The selection process for the All-NBA First Team is conducted by a panel of sportswriters and broadcasters who cover the NBA. The panel consists of 100 voters, including 42 international media members.
The voters are asked to select two guards, two forwards, and one center for the All-NBA First Team. The players who receive the most votes at each position are named to the team.
Players who are named to the All-NBA First Team receive five points for each first-team vote, three points for each second-team vote, and one point for each third-team vote. The player with the highest point total at each position is named to the All-NBA First Team.
But since defense wins championships, we also have to include the NBA’s All-Defensive team. Each year, the league’s coaches vote on the players who have excelled on the defensive end of the court, and the top vote-getters are named to the First and Second teams.
This year, Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo has the chance to join some of the best in NBA history. If the two-time MVP makes the All-NBA First Team and the All-Defensive First Team, which seems very much likely, Antetokounmpo could become only the fifth player to be selected to five straight All-NBA First Teams and five straight All-Defensive First Teams.
Giannis would join Michael Jordan, Tim Duncan, Kobe Bryant and LeBron James.
Per NBA Reddit:
Giannis Antetokounmpo could become the fifth player to be selected to five straight All-NBA first teams and five straight All-Defensive first teams if he makes it this year
The four other players are
Jordan, 88-93
Duncan, 99-03
Bryant, 06-11
James, 09-13
