Unless you’ve been living under the rock, you know for a fact that Philadelphia 76ers superstar Joel Embiid made headlines during the regular season and is now the favorite to win this year’s Most Valuable Player of the Year.
Embiid put up astounding numbers with 33.1 points, 10.2 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game on 54.8% shooting from the field. While doing so, the Sixers superstar made history and also became the first center since Bob McAdoo to win consecutive scoring titles.
His numbers and success over the season are enough to prop up his stock. Now, after a strong MVP-worthy campaign, Embiid talked to Rachel Nichols and confidently touted himself as the best player in the NBA.
Rachel Nichols: “Because you are now one of the best players in the world. But at the time—”
Joel Embiid: “The best.”
Rachel: “Oh, I’m sorry. Say it again. The best?”
Joel: “The best.”
That time Joel interrupted me to say he is “the best” player in the world 😎 Although as he also notes here, he certainly didn’t start out that way. Full episode of Headliners streaming on @Showtime now. pic.twitter.com/s1lBu7SFi3
