At the beginning of March, we reported how Memphis police records show that Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant was accused of repeatedly punching a teenage boy in the head, while also threatening him with a gun last summer.

The teenager reportedly threw a ball in Morant’s face during a pickup basketball game at Moran’t house, which led to the Grizzlies star allegedly punching him in the face repeatedly, leaving a large lump on the side of boy’s head.

This then led to Morant’s lawyer, Keenan Carter, releasing a statement, claiming that the reports about the alleged incident are defamatory and a ‘blatant lie.’

Now, Morant is taking things one step further and filed a countersuit against the high school basketball player involved in the incident. Morant said the teenager, who previously sued him, could have ended his career.

Action News 5 obtaiend the countersuit that includes the following key points:

  • Intentionally threw a basketball at his face, which could have ended Morant’s career.
  • Walked aggressively toward Morant with his fists clenched, as if he were about to hit him.
  • Threatened to return to Morant’s house and light it up “like a firework show,” as he left.
  • Threatened Morant again in a Snapchat post.
  • Lied to police about Morant flashing a gun.
  • Violated a court order by leaking details of a sealed case to the media.
  • Caused Morant to be “subjected to castigation and ridicule” and made him suffer both “personal humiliation” and “impairment of the character and reputation that he has worked for years to build in the Memphis community,” while making him “more circumspect” when dealing with the media.
  • Cost Morant money by hurting his chances to make an All-NBA team this season.
