Alexey Shved likely is a name that resonates with plenty of NBA fans. The Russian shooting guard has had an illustrious career in basketball, playing at the highest levels of competition in both Europe and the U.S.
NBA fans mostly know Shved for his stints with the NBA’s Minnesota Timberwolves and New York Knicks, Europeans know him as one of EuroLeague’s best players.
The 34-year-old now was attacked by a hooligan at a Moscow restaurant, and had to be taken to the hospital by an ambulance. Shved reportedly suffered a serious head injury.
CSKA Moscow, Shved’s current team, released following statement:
“Our guard Alexey Shved suffered injuries stemming from a hooligan attack on him last night at a Moscow restaurant.
Alexey suffered a serious head injury as a result of a fall and was taken to the hospital by an ambulance. The player contacted the police to investigate the incident.
Due to the injury, Shved will not be able to take part in the next games of the team. We wish Alexey a speedy recovery!”
