Phoenix Suns superstar Devin Booker has been on tear this 2022-23 NBA playoffs. Through nine contests, the elite offensive guard is leading the league in points per game with 36.8 points on 61.7% shooting from the field to go along with 5.1 rebounds and 7.4 assists per game.

Booker’s dominant level of play now has him drawing comparisons to five-time NBA champion Kobe Bryant himself. While Booker may not reach the status of Bryant, fans and basketball pundits alike can only imagine for the time being considering the similarities that they share.

Speaking about the comparison, popular NBA analyst Stephen A. Smith couldn’t help but mention Booker’s name alongside the Los Angeles Lakers legend, so much so that Smith came up with a Kobe-inspired nickname for the 26-year old Suns guard.

“I’ve been thinking about Kobe Bryant a lot lately… And when I look at this brother Devin Booker, that is what I think about, so much so that I’ve coined a new nickname for Devin Booker. It’s the “The Light-skinned Mamba”. It’s appropriate to have the conversation about how gifted and great this brother is, what he brings to the table.”
