Before Mat Ishbia took over as the new owner of the Phoenix Suns franchise, many big time players were also rumored to be interested in acquiring the team.
Names like Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison, Laurene Powell Jobs (Apple) and Bob Iger (Disney) were present in the media, when talking about potential new Suns owners.
Back then, these big names scared off former Phoenix Suns center and Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal, even though he’s expressed interest of becoming a team owner for a while now.
Now, in an interview with Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix, O’Neal now revealed that he is interested in becoming the owner of another former team of his… the Orlando Magic.
“I’m interested in a certain team in Florida… It’s not Miami.”
