The hype machine surrounding Victor Wembanyama has been going on strong for quite a while now, and it has only gotten louder after the recent NBA Draft Lottery that saw the San Antonio Spurs end up with the No.1 overall pick.
Standing at 7-foot-4 and weighing 230 pounds, the French phenom is unique prospect who has the ability to handle the ball, shoot in rhythm and block shots. He’s taller than everyone, but very mobile and fluid for a player his size.
Hyped as a future all-time great, NBA analyst Chris Broussard has now made his expectations clear for the 19-year old French prospect. For Broussard, he’s ready to call Wembanyama a disappointment if his career doesn’t turn out comparably to the likes of LeBron James and Michael Jordan.
“Here’s what I’m saying. These are my expectations for him,” Broussard said, starting his analysis. “If Wemby is Anthony Davis or Kevin Durant. If he’s Hakeem Olajuwon, he has not met expectations. His expectations are to have a career like LeBron (James), (Michael) Jordan, (Tim) Duncan, Shaq (O’Neal) or Kareem (Abdul-Jabbar). That’s what the expectations are.”
.@Chris_Broussard: If Wemby is AD, KD or Hakeem, that’s a disappointment. I expect him to be one of the best players ever — to have a career like LeBron, Jordan, Duncan, Shaq or Kareem.@getnickwright: Then the expectations are too high. The Spurs should go after the title now. pic.twitter.com/ARKUozIkOu
