Scottie Pippen has been critical of Michael Jordan over the past few years, especially after ESPN’s documentary “The Last Dance” was released. It doesn’t seem his perspective has changed as he now renewed his criticism of his teammate when making an appearance on Stacey King’s “Gimme The Hot Sauce” podcast.
Pippen was a very important No.2 option and was instrumental in the rise of the Chicago Bulls that saw the dynasty win six NBA championships. Pippen may have been a second fiddle, but without him, Jordan and the Bulls may have never reached the level of success they had.
Now talking about Jordan, Pippen went vocal about his belief that Jordan was a horrible player who was more concerned about one-on-one plays before the small forward got to the Bulls in 1987 and started winning.
Ironically, in the same interview, Pippen, before anything else, showered heavy praise on four-time NBA champion LeBron James, who has been in competition with Jordan in the GOAT debate. The former Bulls superstar did not specifically refer to LeBron as the greatest ever, but claimed that he will be the greatest statistical player in NBA history when it’s all said and done.
“LeBron will be the greatest statistical guy to ever play the game of basketball. And there’s no comparison to him. None. So does that make him the greatest player to ever play the game? I’ll leave that up for debate, because I don’t believe there’s a great player because our game’s a team game, and one player can’t do it.”
“I saw Jordan play before I came to play with the Bulls. You guys saw him play. He was a horrible player. He was horrible to play with. He was all one-on-one, he’s shooting bad shots, and all of a sudden we become a team and we start winning and everybody forgot who he was.”
“LeBron James will be the greatest statistical [player] to ever play the game of basketball. [Michael Jordan] was a horrible player.”
