James Harden didn’t have the best playoff run and averaged 20.3 points, 6.2 rebounds and 8.3 assists per game on 39.3% shooting from the field. Though Harden has unquestionably lost a step, he remains an elite playmaker and is capable of catching fire at times.
Based on his production over the year, there should be enough market for the former league MVP as he heads into unrestricted free agency this offseason. At present, the Houston Rockets are one team that has massively expressed its desire to sign the 33-year old superstar.
Houston makes sense for Harden, considering his history with the franchise and how his veteran experience would be beneficial for their young players. However, Harden is also eager of joining a team that will give him a serious shot at an NBA title, which he apparently may not get with the Rockets, who are still in the early stages of their rebuild.
This being the case, NBA insider Shams Charania now said that Harden appears to be torn between staying with the Sixers and joining the Rockets in free agency.
“I don’t think he knows today which way he’s going to go, but you look at the two teams that it’ll come down to. Staying in Philly or going and retuning to Houston. His roots, his family, there in Houston right now. I’m told James Harden is torn on where is this gonna go.”
