Team USA is owning the international scene this year, boasting a roster filled with stars and up-and-comers like Anthony Edwards, Austin Reaves, Jalen Brunson, Tyrese Haliburton, Brandon Ingram and Jaren Jackson Jr.
Winning is the ultimate goal in this international tourney, and Team USA is doing just that. But it’s not all smooth sailing, especially for New Orleans Pelicans go-to guy Brandon Ingram, who’s not exactly thrilled with his limited role.
In the NBA, Ingram is usually the player racking up points and getting plenty of minutes. But with Team USA, he’s getting fewer touches, less time on the court, and his stats are taking a hit. While it’s pretty typical for Team USA players to face this kind of adjustment, Ingram is making it clear that it’s a struggle to adapt.
Per The Athletic:
“This is totally different than what I am used to,” Ingram told Vardon. “The team is winning right now, so I can’t be selfish thinking about myself. But it’s a little frustrating right now for me, and I’m just trying to figure out ways I can be effective.”
