Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Surprises When Naming The NBA’s Greatest Point Guard

Stephen Curry has recently ignited a debate when retired NBA superstar Gilbert Arenas asked him if he thinks he’s the greatest point guard in NBA history. Boasting four NBA titles and often cited as the greatest shooter ever, Curry unequivocally declared that he is.

While Curry’s opinion is bold, it’s far from a consensus opinion. Many argue that Magic Johnson, long viewed as the best point guard ever, still holds the title. The discussion is presently intense, with Johnson and Curry both being heavily debated as the top choice.

Amid all this, people also mentioned Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James, known for his point guard skills, as another player who deserves to be in the conversation for the greatest point guard of all-time.

NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar now went a different way. When asked who he thinks has the edge when it comes to best point guard of all-time, he had a surprising answer to this question. Abdul-Jabbar believes it’s Oscar Robertson, who is the greatest point guard to ever play the game.

“I don’t think you’re going to want to hear this. Oscar Robertson, the Big O. I only had a chance to play with him at the end of his career, but he was awesome.

If people had seen him play in the prime of his career with the 3-point shot. Oscar had 3-point range, but he never got to play when it was incorporated into the game. People don’t understand how significant he was in how to play the game. I know Steph Curry, LeBron [James], Kobe [Bryant], Magic – all those guys are superior. But I’d have to go with Oscar.”
