Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards introduced his first signature sneaker, the Adidas AE 1, this past weekend. The shoe was unveiled at the AE 1 Homecoming event in Atlanta, Georgia, Edwards’ hometown.
The AE 1 is a lightweight, high-performance sneaker that is designed for Edwards’ explosive playing style. The shoe features a knit upper with a parametric, precision-melded TPU overlay that provides support and breathability. The AE 1 also has a full-length Lightstrike midsole for cushioning and a responsive ride.
When asked by Len Werle of OpenCourt-Basketball, Edwards said that he was involved in every step of the design process for the AE 1.
“I wanted to create a shoe that was both stylish and functional,” Edwards said. “I wanted a shoe that could keep up with my game and help me to perform at my best.”
The AE 1 will likely be available in three different colorways: black/white, bright orange, and black/peach and is rumored to be released on December 1, 2023 for $120 USD.
