Dillon Brooks was establishing himself as one of the more important pieces for the Memphis Grizzlies, averaging 14.5 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game on 41.6% shooting from the field in six seasons there.
However, his subpar playoff performance led to the Grizzlies cooling off on him, so much so that there were even reports that they had no intention of re-signing the outspoken NBA swingman under any circumstances during the offseason.
Ultimately, Brooks and the Grizzlies parted ways on a sour note. Now with the Houston Rockets, Brooks has had the opportunity to express his views on his time with the Grizzlies, revealing his displeasure at being made the scapegoat for their last playoff run.
Per Sports Illustrated:
“What I didn’t like about Memphis was they allowed that so they can get out of the woodwork, and then I’m the scapegoat of it all. That’s what I didn’t appreciate. And then ultimately they’ll come to me on the low, as men, one on one and tell me something, but then not defend me when everything went down.”
