Klay Thompson has long stood out as one of the best shooting guards in the NBA. However, this season, he hasn’t been the player everyone is accustomed to watching.
So far this season, Thompson has been struggling to live up to expectations. He’s averaging only 15.8 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game on 40.4% shooting from the field. These numbers, while serviceable, don’t measure up to his usual standards.
Thompson’s play this season has frustrated many, as his struggles are not just personal but also visibly impacting the Warriors. With a record of 10-12, Thompson and the Warriors currently sit at the 11th seed in the Western Conference.
Former Washington Wizards star Gilbert Arenas is one individual who has voiced criticism towards Thompson. While he recognizes Thompson as a champion, Arenas has criticized the Warriors veteran for never improving his game.
“Someone like Klay, he never improved to me. You came in as a spot shooter, and even though you have 4 rings, you’re still a spot shooter,” Arenas said.
