The New York Knicks have been steady playoff contenders and have really caught the eye of fans and analysts. So much so, they’ve started to throw around hypothetical scenarios. One of these scenarios is imagining how they would’ve performed with prime Carmelo Anthony on their roster.
Throughout his career, Anthony hasn’t won a championship or had much success in the playoffs. His time with the Knicks wasn’t very impressive in terms of team achievements. But it’s fair to point out that his best teammate there was Amar’e Stoudemire, who had his time with the team cut short by injuries.
Considering this, it’s interesting to think about how Anthony might have performed with more talented teammates like Jalen Brunson, Julius Randle and RJ Barrett. These players have already led the Knicks to the second round of the playoffs, and each is capable of scoring over 20 points on any given night.
Anthony himself has answered these hypothetical scenarios.
“Me with that team, with the Knicks, that would’ve been a special team,” Anthony said. “Because I know the makeup of a team. You have presence in the paint, you have the best shot blocker in the game, arguably. You have a force in Julius Randle…”
Melo talks about prime him being on this current Knicks team.
