Kevin Love Thinks Jaime Jaquez Jr. Is More Consistent Than Victor Wembanyama

There have been several rookies who are trending, and one who has managed to steal the spotlight is Jaime Jacquez Jr. of the Miami Heat. Jaquez, only the 18th overall pick of the 2023 NBA Draft, is playing this year as if he was selected much higher.

Jaime doesn’t usually put up star numbers like Victor Wembanyama or Chet Holmgren, for instance, but he is exceeding expectations so far and delivering solid production for an 18th pick rookie like himself. This season, he’s averaging 13.8 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game on 50.4% shooting from the field.

A handful of observers feel Jaime is up there with Wembanyama and Holmgren as far as rookies go, and Heat veteran Kevin Love is one such believer. In a recent interview, Love even went as far as to suggest that the Heat rookie has been even more consistent than Wembanyama.

“Think of all the rookies, he certainly has been incredibly consistent. He’s right up there with Holmgren. Wemby has been in and out.”
