The Toronto Raptors are right in the middle of trade rumors surrounding their star, Pascal Siakam, as the NBA trade deadline gets closer.
There were talks about a possible trade with the Sacramento Kings, but it seems like those discussions hit a snag. Now, everyone is curious to see if a deal will be made with the Golden State Warriors, Miami Heat, or any other teams in the running.
Prior to this season, there was an opportunity for Siakam to sign an extension, but it seems that the Toronto Raptors chose not to engage in any communication with him, as reported by Josh Lewenberg of TSN.
According to a source close to the player, team president Masai Ujiri and the front office almost completely cut off contact with Siakam last summer, leaving him to question if he was being penalized. This lack of communication was particularly unusual considering Siakam was entering the final year of his contract.
“It’s led a couple of league sources to wonder whether the Raptors’ unusual, and at times disrespectful, treatment of Siakam dating back to last summer has been intended to force his hand, or worse, push him out.”
