Last season proved challenging for Russell Westbrook. He struggled with the Los Angeles Lakers and was often singled out for the team’s failures. This tension culminated in his trade to the Utah Jazz, after which he was waived and subsequently signed with the Los Angeles Clippers.

With the Clippers, Westbrook received a more positive vibe and settled into a team that seemed to be a better fit. Come playoff time, Westbrook balled out, posting 23.6 points, 7.6 rebounds and 7.4 assists on 41.0% shooting from the field, even as his team was handicapped by injuries against the Phoenix Suns.

This season, Westbrook had to take a step back, especially after the Clippers had traded for James Harden. While Westbrook remains a valuable piece off the bench, opinions on Westbrook remain split. However, for many Clippers fans, the former MVP remains somewhat of a fan favorite.

This showed once again during Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Westbrook was sitting at the end of the Clippers bench, next to some young fans, as Rudy Gobert was shooting free throws.

Gobert brutally missed both free throws, leaving the Clippers bench in laughter. Westbrook in the meantime, had his back turned as Gobert was shooting his second free throw. He asked the fans to tell him how the shot turned out. After the airball, Westbrook and the fan shared a laugh.
