The Miami Heat possess enough talent and coaching to establish themselves as legitimate playoff contenders this season. However, with their current record of 24-23, they haven’t yet convinced pundits to favor them over top teams like the Boston Celtics, Milwaukee Bucks and Philadelphia 76ers.
The Heat can be surprising, like when they made it to the NBA Finals twice in the past five seasons. But the air feels different this time. For one, former NBA big man Kendrick Perkins doesn’t believe they’re title contenders and wants to see significant change.
Even though the Heat recently acquired Terry Rozier to provide additional support, Perkins feels for six-time All-Star Jimmy Butler and suggests the Heat should even consider trading him to a team with a genuine title shot this season.
“I believe the Miami Heat need to do right by Jimmy and trade him to a team that actually could compete for a title this season.”
“It’s time for the Miami Heat and Jimmy Butler to go their separate ways.”
