Klay Thompson was undeniably instrumental in etching the Golden State Warriors in history as one of the greatest teams ever. However, this season, he’s also found himself at the heart of their underwhelming performance.
While Thompson remains a solid starter, it’s evident that he’s currently off the All-Star map. This season, he’s averaging 17.3 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game on a subpar 41.5% shooting from the field.
With the trade season looming, speculation now swirls about whether the Warriors will consider moving Thompson in favor of a more complementary piece. However, according to NBA insider Brian Windhorst, the team seems committed to keeping Thompson alongside veteran Draymond Green.
This decision obviously doesn’t resonate with everyone. Former NBA player Kendrick Perkins, for example, voiced his opinion during the Warriors-Hawks game, stating that a separation would be best for both parties.
“I’m watching Hawks vs Warriors and don’t understand why Golden State is prolonging this relationship with Klay. Stop the bleeding! I still believe that Klay can be the Klay of old… he just need a change of scenery.”
