The person who was hit suffered a partial amputation of his leg and is in critical condition. Highsmith was not injured and was not arrested in the incident. He missed Wednesday’s game against San Antonio for personal reasons. The Heat expressed their sympathy for the injured person and said they are cooperating with the authorities.
Highsmith was not suspected of being under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the crash.
