Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic put the league on notice last season, leading the Denver Nuggets to an NBA championship and solidifying their reputation as one of the best duos in the league.
Throughout the whole 2023 NBA playoffs, Murray averaged a stellar 26.1 points, 5.7 rebounds and 7.1 assists per game, while Jokic dominated with 30.0 points, 13.5 rebounds and 9.5 assists, ultimately claiming the Finals MVP award.
Interestingly, the duo has flown under the radar this season, partly due to Murray playing in only 46 games so far due to injuries. Nonetheless, in the games he has played, the Nuggets point guard has been solid, averaging 20.8 points, 4.0 rebounds and 6.5 assists per games on 47.9% shooting from the field.
Now, it’s still safe to say that both Murray and Jokic are impressive individually and even more scary when playing together. Yet, some remain unconvinced of their status as one of the top duos in the NBA, including former NBA guard Jeff Teague. In fact, he thinks Murray-Jokic pairing doesn’t even make the top 5 this season.
“I’m taking Murray and Jokic out. I think Jokic is fire, I think Murray is a great player. Unbelievable. But as a duo, this year, I don’t think he’s top 5 in a duo.”
Jeff Teague doesn’t consider Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic a top 5 duo, favoring Giannis and Damian Lillard over them
