Gasol’s accolades include three All-Star selections and a Defensive Player of the Year award during his tenure with the team. He remains the Grizzlies’ all-time leader in minutes played, games started, field goals made, free throws made, rebounds, and blocks.
Gasol’s game-winning plays, and defensive prowess defined the “Grit ‘N Grind” era in Memphis. The celebration kicked off with a pregame party featuring live performances. Gasol’s alma mater, Lausanne Collegiate School Singers, performed the National Anthem. Memphis artists and Gasol favorites contributed to in-game musical performances. Special edition Gasol and “Core 4” tees and jerseys were available for fans.
Marc Gasol’s jersey retirement cements his place as one of the greatest Grizzlies ever. His impact on the franchise and the city of Memphis will be remembered for generations to come.
