Darvin Ham arrived as the Los Angeles Lakers head coach in the 2021-22 NBA season. A rookie head coach, he came with a lot of compliments for his successful stint as an assistant coach with the Milwaukee Bucks. The Lakers and their fans embraced him during the signing, but things have soured after just two playoff appearances.
Right now, Ham and the Lakers are on the brink of another sweep at the hands of the Denver Nuggets, the same team that blocked their championship run last season. While personnel issues play a part, a lot of criticism falls on Ham for their lack of postseason success.
These frustrations were on full display during Game 3, as Lakers fans voiced their discontent, calling for his firing.
A “Fire Darvin!” chant has broken out from a segment of the crowd.

Amidst the negativity, former NBA player Chandler Parsons has emerged as a rare supporter for Ham. Stepping up for the coach, Parsons downplays Ham’s responsibility for the 0-3 deficit against the Nuggets, arguing no coach could lead this Lakers team to victory over Denver.
“Find me anybody in the world that can coach this Lakers team to victory against this Denver Nuggets team…There’s no coach that can coach that to beat that team.”
